A peek into my world

Look within, and trust that your inner knowing will flow out in beautiful and creative ways.

How it all began…

Since childhood, I've always had a creative spirit, and a love for arts and crafts. After leaving a medical career over 25 years ago, I knew in my heart it was time to pursue my passion for art full time. My dream of owning an art studio became a reality in the late 1990’s when “The Painted Petal” art design studio was born.

So many wonderful opportunities have crossed my path over the years, a few of these exciting moments include:

Live appearances on Public Television with Donna Dewberry, the developer of the One-Stroke painting technique.

Featured artist with designer Vern Yip of the show Trading Spaces.

Studio and set design work for several magazine, catalog and design companies.

Responsible for developing and designing the nationwide Do-It-Yourself program for the Lowes Home Improvement stores.

Even though murals, design work, and custom painting have been a large part of my business, I’d have to say that teaching remains the highlight of my career. It brings me great joy to watch people who say they can’t even draw a stick figure, light up with excitement at what they can create.

So, get ready to unleash your inner artist…. Lets Paint!

In honor of mom.

I lost my beautiful mom in August, 2021, to ovarian cancer. Without her constant unconditional love and support, I could not have taken the business to where it is today. If you painted with me, you knew my mom. She was my right hand and by my side every step of the way. All that knew her loved her.

Mom loved my painted roses, she would always have me paint them for my students in class. “The Painted Petal” got its name from her, too. She thought the name was so appropriate since I painted flowers on everything.

I know she will always be with me guiding my brush strokes from above, and saying...

“Oh c’mom Lisa, you have to paint another rose!”

For you, mom, I will always paint another rose. xo

I would love to paint rosebuds with you, too! Grab my FREE guide below, and I’ll show you how!
